The neighborhood is located less than three miles from downtown Chesterton and about six miles from downtown Valparaiso. Access to the Indiana Toll-Road (I-80/90) is about two miles away and I-94 is about five miles away. Also, the neighborhood is located just 12 minutes from the nearest South Shore Commuter Line train station. No public transportation system stops in the Timberland neighborhood.
