St. Andre is one of the best neighborhoods in Valparaiso, Indiana. And, if you were to ask me, I think it is the best neighborhood of all. St. Andre truly is my very favorite neighborhood.
St. Andre is a gated community located on the northeast edge of Valparaiso. The neighborhood features larger homes on large lots. Additionally, because the neighborhood was developed over 20 years ago there are many larger trees in the neighborhood. St. Andre is an upper-tier Valparaiso neighborhood in a rural setting but close to town. The place is amazing. Let’s take a deeper look.
St. Andre features only single family homes. The houses here were built starting in the late 1990s and throughout the early 2000s and 2010s. The neighborhood features large luxury homes. The homes typically have more than four bedrooms and more than four bathrooms. Most homes have over 4,000 finished square feet and homes with over 5,000 square feet are not uncommon. The lot sizes are one acre or larger.
Home interiors have a variety of finishes, but homebuyers should expect to find above average materials in these homes. Also, due to the homes build years buyers should expect the homes to have modern interior features such as main bedroom bathrooms, walk-in closets, spacious kitchens, and excellent floor plans.
Over the last two years houses for sale in St. Andre Valparaiso, Indiana sold for between $468,000 and $1,075,000. Most of these homes sold for between $468,000 and $625,000 though. The average purchase price for houses sold in St. Andre during 2019-2020 is $617,000, and the median purchase price is $529,000.
Homebuyers searching for a luxury level home in Valparaiso or in the Chesterton school district should strongly consider buying in St. Andre. This is even more true for people seeking a home with some privacy.
There are no amenities located in the St. Andre neighborhood. However, with the larger lots found in this neighborhood homebuyers can be assured they will have plenty of space in their own yards for activities or putting in a pool. Additionally, St. Andre is located close to both Valparaiso and Chesterton. Both of these cities have every bit of recreation, shopping, and restaurants residents want to enjoy.
St. Andre is probably one of the safest neighborhoods in Valparaiso, Indiana. First, the neighborhood is a gated community with one way in and one way out. Secondly, the neighborhood is located between Valparaiso and Chesterton. Both of these cities are routinely ranked among the top 20 safest cities and towns in Indiana. Also, the neighborhood is at the edge of these towns where there is less traffic. Lastly, home values in this neighborhood are well above that of other areas of Valparaiso and Chesterton. Crime rates are low where real estate values are high.
Students living in St. Andre attend the Duneland School Corporation. This is a large school district with over 5,800 students in attendance. There are many academic, athletic, and extracurricular opportunities for Duneland students. As a whole, the school district has received a Grade B in its most recent assessment by the Indiana Dept. of Education.

St. Andre is located on County Road N 400 E near the intersection of County Roads N 400 E and E 600 N. The neighborhood is less than two miles east of State Road 49. There is no public transportation serving the St. Andre neighborhood.
There is no other neighborhood with the quality and the characteristics which can be found in St. Andre. St. Andre truly in our opinion is the best Valparaiso neighborhood. Homebuyers can expect to find large homes with modern interior elements and finishes. The homes are on large lots with mature trees. The neighborhood’s location gives it an out-of-town feeling, but residents really are quite close to everything they could need. This is a safe neighborhood and one of the very few gated communities in Northwest Indiana.
