Emerald Ridge is a subdivision exclusively featuring single family homes. Emerald Ridge is located on the west side of Valparaiso.
Developers started building homes in Emerald Ridge in the early 2000s. Today, the neighborhood is complete and features over 200 single family homes. Home designs include ranches and two story homes. There are no bi-levels or tri-levels in Emerald Ridge.
These homes have affordable prices and come with modern features including main bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, walk-in closets, and large gathering rooms. Some homes may lack the most current finishes due to the era in which they were built.
Emerald Ridge homes for sale typically have four bedrooms and three and one-half bathrooms. The homes typically have about 3,200 finished square feet and a lot size of one-third of an acre.

Elementary aged students living in Emerald Ridge attend Heavilin Elementary School. This school just opened in 2017. Heavilin has individually received an ‘A’ grade from the INDOE and was classified as “exceeding expectations” by the U.S. Dept. of Education. The school is located at 2300 N 50 W Valparaiso, IN 46385 which is just about 2 minutes from the south entrance of Emerald Ridge.
Emerald Ridge middle school students attend Benjamin Franklin Middle School located at 605 N. Campbell St. Valparaiso, IN 46385. This school’s state grade is an ‘A’ and has been classified by the U.S. Dept. of Education as “meets expectations.”

People living in Emerald Ridge likely will need a car. There is not a robust public transportation system in Valparaiso. Emerald Ridge residents are incredibly close to highways State Road 2 and U.S. 30. Additionally, the interestates 65, 80, 90, and 94 are each less than 20 minutes away.
Emerald Ridge residents are about 20 minutes away from the nearest South Shore Commuter Line train station. The South Shore Line makes multiple daily stops in Northwest Indiana to take commuters to Chicago. The line runs as far east as South Bend.
Emerald Ridge is located about 55 minutes from the Loop, 4 minutes from downtown Valparaiso, and about 45 minutes from South Bend. Other nearby cities include Portage, Chesterton, Merrillville, Crown Point, Schererville, and Michigan City.
Anyone would love living in this neighborhood, but families will likely definitely excel here in Emerald Ridge. The neighborhood has sidewalks and curbs, two playgrounds, and is located very close to the elementary school. The homes are relatively affordable and offer all of the features you would expect.
